Here’s To Your HEALTH!!!

              OVERWEIGHT?

Milk May Do Your Body Good!

Good news for milk drinkers: Dairy products can lower the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

A 10 year study found that among overweight people ages 18 to 30, those who consumed the most dairy products had a 72% lower incidence of insulin resistance syndrome than those who consumed the least.

The syndrome is a forerunner of diabetes and it increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

But dairy products don’t have similar benefits for these who aren’t overweight, according to the study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

SPOON UP A BOWL OF OATS TO LOWER YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE!

A serving of whole grain oats cereal every day lowers blood pressure, two new studies reveal. And for patients who are taking medication for high blood pressure, the oat cereal may allow them to decrease their dosages.

EAT ONLY SOY MUCH TO CUT RISK OF BREAST CANCER!

Eating too much soy can be dangerous. Soy contains substances called isoflavones, which in excessive amounts may increase the risk of breast cancer and interfere with thyroid function.

But moderate soy consumption – a half of tofu or a cup of soy milk daily, for instance can lower cholesterol and breast cancer risk.

How To Shape Up At Home…

Without Spending A Cent!

Forget about fancy gyms and expensive machines. You can get into great shape at home in just 15 minutes a day, and it won’t cost you a penny!

“All those expensive trimmings are a waste of time and money and can actually keep you from getting in shape,” well-known training expert and coach Doug Brolus says, “they make exercise into such a big production that it can be discouraging.”

“All you really need is a pillow, a small rug and two light barbells or standard sized soup cans – and with these you can get into great shape no matter how old you are.”

Brolus, who is based in Detroit, recommends a system called “Circuit Training,” which involves doing sets of different exercise in rapid succession without resting in between them. The system works out every area of the body including the cardiovascular system, and can be tailor to each individual’s fitness level.

“Check with your doctor before starting if you haven’t been exercising regularly,” advises Brolus, who has worked with top fitness experts including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jack La Lanne. “Start slow and allow yourself as much rest as you need between sets. Then as you progress and build endurance you can add speed to the repetitions, stop resting between sets, and add more weight if you choose.”

There are 5 different exercises to include in the Brolus routine. Repeat each one 10 times, then move on to 10 repetitions of the next without resting. After completing all five exercises, rest for one minute, then go through all five again. Do this until you have gone through all five exercises four different times. The total times should be about 15 minutes.

SQUATS: Standing with your legs comfortably spread at shoulder width, toes pointed forward, gradually lower yourself into a sitting position,

hold for one second, then stand up. Repeat.
