My friend told me I should contact an attorney from those commercials, because she said “they must be good, they’re on TV.” Are they better attorneys because they are on TV?

Just because a lawyer appears in TV commercials, doesn’t qualify them to handle personal injury cases. Amazingly, some lawyers who advertise on TV have never tried a personal injury case themselves. Some lawyers who advertise on TV aren’t even in the commercials themselves, they hire actors. Please don’t be fooled by the slick commercials. If a lawyer doesn’t have the right tools and experience you need for your case, then you should not hire him or her. But if you do talk to an attorney from TV, ask him or her the very same questions you would ask any other lawyer like “How many years as a trial lawyer do you have?” If all the attorney from TV can offer you is a good commercial, are you ready to trust them with one of the most important decisions of your life?
